A crazy day at the Dragon
A crazy day at the Dragon
I just came back after a weary trip to the Dragon. Not that I'm usually this tired but all the hyper-excitement through the day finally took its toll.
I was capturing some beautiful snaps of the natural scenery on the banks of the lake along US129 when I heard the sirens ring. Mind you, not one, not two but atleast three different sirens. I immediately switched my camera to video mode and captured 5 ambulances and 2 cop cars flying past. I immediately ran back to my car and decided to get to the scene of the accident. It took place bang in the middle of the 11 mile run along a very tight 180 curve (one of those 20mph ones). There were two bikes on the ground and a couple of helmets out along the slopes. It seems the bikers just went off the cliff and a rescue operation was going on.
To top off the action, a monstrous 18 wheeler came flying in from the south end with other bikers all around it. That insane driver almost ran everyone off the road and it was funny seeing how everyone managed to pass through. I decided to head back home after capturing the action on my trusty ol camera. 2 miles down US129-S, I hit a (moving) roadblock. The park ranger with his massive Tahoe was heaving along at 15mph. Since I still had some space on my memory card, a short video clip of the back of Tahoe couldn't be missed. What I actually managed to capture are his super-dangerous driving skills. The entire vehicle crossed the double yellow lines on almost all turns. 15mph and going into the oncoming lane? I mean WTH? Anyway, he turned into a service lane just before the Nantahala Forest and I resumed doing what I do best - capture even more snaps along with some aggresive driving.
I'll post all the video links as soon as I get them on Youtube.

(Part 2 hasn't been uploaded. I'm trying to merge the all related videos into one long capture)
