US MINI Spec Racing Series in 2008?
MC2 Magazine posted up some speculation on a US MINI Spec Racing Series for 2008:

Has anyone heard of this?? This would be VERY interesting! $42K for a race-ready MINI from the factory - SWEET! Now to find a sponsor LOL...

I have heard about this through the grape vine. I was even asked if I would be interested in purchasing one of these. The price tag is a little high for me, so unless I was given a deal with my trade in (not sure what a dealer would do with a non factory race car...), the answer would be no. I believe this is still up in the air, so we will have to wait for a final word.
