Redpoint Rallying Mini Cooper

If you like Rallying have a look at this website based in Scotland .And see the
Redpoint Rallying UK rally team based in Aberdeenshire. Martin Page/Alan Bennett rally the only 'New' Mini Cooper in Scotland and compete in rounds of the Scottish Rally championship.
The car is undergoing continual development and is proving to be competitive on tarmac and forests rallies.http://www.redpointrallying.co.uk/index.html more Mini Race Rally photographs here http://community.webshots.com/user/abinalba

New Suspension Fitted

After a short rallying sabatical we are aiming to be out on the McRae Stages on 30 September. Our entry is away and we are working like crazy prepping the car and fitting the fantastic new Proflex suspension. see http://www.coltnesscarclub.co.uk/ for the Rally info. Colin, Alister and Jimmy will be competing in Mk2 Escorts.

We have some fabrication to do to be able to fit the Proflex and you can see in the pics that we have reinforced turret tops on the front. These are also higher to give us more suspension travel and are designed to be adjustable for camber. The suspension units themselves are adjustable for compression, rebound and height.

We are looking forward to getting to grips with the new kit, there are so many settings that it may take some experimenting to get the best set up, but they will be a huge step forward in performance.

Rally report in short

It was hard work getting the Cooper ready for this one but with the invaluable help from Martin with his lap top in a gallant attempt to get the boggo standard ECU re-mapped in time and John on the end of the phone talking me through electrical maladies, we made it.

The new suspension, wheel and tyres are so big an improvement its difficult to actually quantify! Proflex is so good....

We had to stop on the last stage due to exhaust problems and a possible fire but it was still a valuable day in the woods.

Winter project ...Rally car rebuild
The car will now undergo more seam welding and have an FIA International multipoint 'weld-in' cage fitted. Its a much more complicated cage which will add to the rigidity of the car....and offer us much more protection. Once the welding is complete the car will be treated to fresh red and white paint all over...see link for progress
