Hi guys,

I took my girlfriends Mini out to an autox event here in Vancouver and lets just say that everyone was surprised at what the outcome was....

After PAX i took 3rd place overall for the day out of 65 cars!!

Man i love this car!

And the funny thing was it was my first time racing the car and i was running in stock class with the crappy 16" runflats! While others were driving modified Mustangs, Rx7s, WRXs and even a Lotus with race tires!!!!

All i have to say is that this car was designed for autox!

some lighter wheels and R-compound tires.... hhmmmm.... i can't wait!

Matt,

Great to see you do well, I hope I can do as well in mine.

Have you raced your Mach One yet? Does you girlfriends car have the sport suspension plus package? Some on the early minis with the 16 inch wheels and crome bumper inserts has the sport plus package.

Way to go Matt! That is the best feeling- wompin' on much more expensive cars. I have a Corvette Club auto-x this Sunday and hope to beat (raw time) all vettes with the MINI. I came close in an E Stock Miata, beat 8 of 9, the vette guys even set up a high speed course

Switching off the DSC is dependent on your abilities. I think with the DSC on, you can drive the car at 7/10ths without thinking. Turn it off and that is where the last 3/10ths are. The DSC is a safety feature and sets the limits well below the threshold of the normal driver. My co-driver (usally .3-1 sec faster than me) drove with the DSC on and I beat his time by 1.5 seconds. In addition, the DSC will retard timing, cut fuel and apply brakes which may upset the car when you don't want it, or cut fuel when you are trying to power out of a sweeper.
