The Next American World Champion needs some advice.....
Haha...right.....
While that may be my dream, I'm afraid I was born astride a shifter kart....but I do have a new Dark Silver MINI Cooper S!!! And, at age 16, I have the itch (Yeah, is that not the best first car EVER?). So I am asking you, my vastly more intelligent and knowledgeable brethren, for any advice you can give me for getting into racing with my MINI. I've heard joining the BMW club is a must, but besides that I don't really know where to go. Autocrossing has also been suggested, but at my age and experience would it ok to just jump into SOLO II competition??? I've completed the most basic course at Mid-Ohio, and I'm of course an avid Gran Turismo fan.
So I'd really appreciate any advice; you can respond here or e-mail me at BrtshRceGr@aol.com.
Thanks, Brian

The absolute best place to start is with your local SCCA chapters SOLOII events. You can start as a novice and I'm sure getting an instructor to ride with you will not be a problem. As a matter of fact if you show up in a Mini, you may have to fight them off with a stick. I'm sure they would be more than willing to help you out.
