Seems to be fading last couple years, but still 40 teams involved for this years event.

Yeah, I'm a transplanted Newfie now living in North Carolina. I would love to make it back one year to at least volunteer in Targa. But you're right, looks like the number of teams are down from previous years. Hopefully it's not the beginning of the end.

Unfortunately, it does seem to be on the way out - little to no advertising this past couple years, and the bigger names/teams have stayed away again.

Another Targa Newfoundland Rally is in the books. The 13th annual event wound up at the St. John's Waterfront Friday evening after five gruelling days on the roads of the Avalon, Burin, and Bonavista Peninsulas. Scott Robbins and Nicholas Kruczkowski took top honors on the final leg in their Ford Sierra Sapphire, and the father-son team of Brian and Matt Oldford captured the Modern division.

Indiana natives Jack Rogers and C J Strupp took first in the classic division in their Ford Mustang and John Hume Senior and Craig MacMullen in a Mini GP came first in the Grand Touring division.
