Good news from my insurance company regarding coverage for racing

I am attending a Driver's Education event with BMWCCA at Barber Motorsports Park at the end of July. I stopped by my local State Farm agent and asked if I would be insured for a driving event on a closed course with an instructor in my vehicle.

According to my agent, as long as my premium is fully paid, I am covered for anything no matter what I do: race, drive drunk, or any other situation that might cause my car to get crunched. They will be required to fix my car, but they may or may not drop me as a customer.

I am very happy to know that my coverage does extend to the race track.

Of course, check with your local agent, but this was great news to me.

I also have State Farm and I also called them to ask about what's covered and what's not since I'll be doing a driver's school with BMW CCA in September.

I stressed several times that it was not a timed or competitive event and that it was for education only.

They said that I would be fully covered however they will underwrite me afterwards if I make a claim.

Is there any discount from State Farm for taking a drivers improvement course? Hmmm. I'll have to call my agent on Monday and ask.
