No, not another BMW, Focus or Honda......An Audi(1995 90 CS Quattro)!!! Just goes to show you that as soon as you think you have an "overdog" in a class a sleeper car like this sneaks up and wins the Seattle National Tour. Granted, the driver is no slouch and is hopefully only driving this car because his normal car is broken but who knows. He must be feeling pretty good after this weekends results.

Not being there I can only speculate why this happended. Maybe there was some sort of freak snow storm and then entire course was covered in ice. Maybe the course was really just two long straightaways up and back. I don't know but I'm guessing this is good ammo to keep the MINI in HS.

Any insight to this weekends event would be great.....Thanks,

Stuart

Alan Dahl is a great driver, the Audi is well prepped and the course was long and fast. I think on asphalt the Audi has more of an advantage than on concrete, but I should have been closer. Can I start with the excuses now? Dawn Maxwell (BRG MC) and Colin Armstrong (LY MC) both drove very well and were much closer than to the top than I was.

Alan runs the Audi locally for fun, he normally drives a TR6 in FSP for national events, but they were running low on tires and he felt he had a good shot at winning a pair of Hoosiers in HS so he jumped into the class at the last minute. We don't have to worry about him at Nationals this year... maybe next year.

Yeah, Alan is a great driver and that should'nt be discounted. I really don't know that much about him or the Audi he drives but after seeing those results I did a little research.

1995 Audi 90 CS Quattro
172 HP VR6, 5 Speed, Sport Suspension, 15x7 wheels and weighs in at roughly 3100 lbs......Sounds pretty good. I can't believe I overlooked this car. Having driven several VR6 GTi's I can only imagine the car pulls pretty strong and with the 15x7 wheels, Sport Suspension and All wheel drive it should do pretty well. Seems like a good match for "GS" and the Subaru 2.5 RS????

Oh well, so it might have an advantage on some courses but I'll guarentee it doesn't transition as well as the MINI.

As far as not driving well this weekend.......I seem to remember one weekend where I DNF'd the first four runs and never got a clean run on one side of the course. Guess we all have are bad days....and weekends. That's why there's always the next event.

Alan is a very good driver, I had a great time at the event and it was well worth the trip from Calgary , it is only 1300 KM's!

It was fun to see all the other racing MINI's and driver and finally put some faces to the people on the Forum. Motoring's car is even better looking in real life, It is a wonderful paint job.

I will see you next year, with some hoosiers and hopefully I will drive more disciplined. The competition was very tough, everyone drove well and it was the best event for drivers and organization I have been to. Only one event has been better and that was the Kumho challenge put on by the VCMC in Vancouver. Maybe some people will make the trip north next year.

Maybe some of you will attend the Canadian nationals in 2 weeks, that would be cool. Check out the web site at http://www.cnacsolo.ca
