Mini Parts Costs....how bad?
Hello. I'm wrapping up my research before pulling the trigger on a new Mini Cooper. I intend to use it as a daily driver and for the occasional track day.
How bad is the cost for replacement parts for the Mini and how long is the wait? Are there lots of parts vendors that offer better prices then the dealerships?
Owning a Ducati, I commonly get sticker shock at the cost of some of the maintenance parts, (i.e. $200 for replacement cam belts, $35 for throttle body o-rings, $15 dollar bolts, etc...) I'm hoping the Mini is a little better price wise then the Ducati.
Thanks.

SmokeM: As a owner of 3 Duck's ( 851,888,998 Bostrom) you will be happy with the cost of parts.(no more valve adjustments!!!) Plus with the Mini you will get the same reaction you get with your Ducati, usually a stare, smile, and "cool car" plus the fun factor driving one never gets old. You'll find yourself making excuses just to go for a drive..

Guess there's a lot of us Duc/MINI owners on NAM (Monster 900 & ST2 here).
MINI parts are extremely reasonable overall. There are the little things like $22 sparkplugs (each) from the dealer, but if you look around here on the board, there are plenty of aftermarket alternatives (or if you want to stick with the original plugs, there are at least places to get them cheaper than the dealer).

I'm glad parts aren't that bad for the Mini. It will be welcome relief. Do you know if the Mini can tow a motorcycle? My new dream is to track my Ducati on Saturday and then track the Mini on Sunday. Of course, I'll have to get matching numbers now . My wife is going to kill me. She is just getting acclimated to motorcycle track days.
Thanks for the reply folks!

I started to collect around 8 years ago with the 888. I bought one paid it off and then went to the 851 and did the same. It took me awhile to find the "Right" Bostrom(1500 miles on the odo) By then I had met a Duck mechanic and had him teach me how to do the required maint which helps quite a bit as you all who own these bikes know. My wife thinks it's a sickness but then she thinks a Mini is just a car.....
