On Sunday I ran my first auto-x event with the MINI (local atlanta event)...

4 runs... my 2 best times were 49.9 and 49.1 but both carried 1 cone... My middle 2 runs were low 50s and only good for 3rd... the winning time was 49.6 so I was very happy with how it went... If it were not for the dam cones I would have finnished 1st in my first MINI run... My last run and fastest felt very good, once I adjust to the quick steering and lack of oversteer on power aplication (been in a M coupe recently) I should be able to avoid the cones

I know how you feel, my runs on the Petersburg ProSolo left course were either wet or coned away. If you like oversteer, some people are weird like that, just run your tires at 45/40 and pitch and catch 'til your hearts content. As for the alignement goes, the only meanigful changes that I know of are toe. There is very little camber to be gained, and I think it would be better to get the alignement now, get seat time and feel more confident before Topeka. Toe out in the front will make turn-in even quicker.

Yeah I am going to be droping pressure in the rear for the next event.... and setting toe in the front to 0 or just a touch toe out... I was going to try to toe out the rear but I don't think it will need it. time will tell..... sometime before topeka I may try to gain a touch of camber by the loosen and jiggle method and yes I am a weird oversteer lover....

Awesome Jason--that's a great way to get through the break-in miles!

I wish I could've made it out there yesterday, but I had to choose between one or the other and the school won out (more time & advice.)

I again dropped my time about 4 seconds over the course of the day. I was still really sloppy but learned a lot.

Hope to see you out there (Road Atlanta, right?) next weekend.

Jeff

I plan to make it up on Sunday.... I hope the weather is good (I will most likely bail if it is raining cats and dogs). Brenda should be there too. Once I know for sure (this afternoon) I will confirm on the ATL MINI group...
