Last weekend, the leaves were still mostly green and yellow. More green than I have seen on the third weekend in October. I'd guess the peak will be this weekend and will probably be pretty nice for your weekend too!

If you take the Dragon from Deal's Gap to the end and go about 2 miles past the big gravel turnaround, you'll see a sign for Foothills Parkway. Turn right and you're on it. It's a rolling road with some nice sweeping turns and some tighter turns when you get up in elevation a bit. Beautiful views and very little traffic. It runs along the west side of the GSM Park into Townsend.

the way it should be, we all should be like that the first time...

not to worry

as mentioned above if you get flashed from behind, pull over at the next stop, let them pass and continue on.

Cooper_Gal,

If you try to pull over to get out the way, make sure you slow down first.
Once you hit the gravel you start to slide!

Wise man once said, patience is a virtue. After seeing where the Dragon is, I have been down it before, but was in a Semi working. I will probably take my time as well. Atleast long enough to figure the layout of the road and all.

I'm thinking this may be the thing to get me to leave the Charlotte area....... Are you all staying the night or just making a day trip out of it?

I'm in Charlotte, too and spending a couple nights at Fontana.

Although I drive to ATL and back, and run up to VA like Mabry Mill and sometimes to Raleigh for the day, I wouldn't for this and I don't think you'll want to make a round trip out of this one, either...too much fun to be had, and too taxing to drive like that and then head home...

I have done it as a day trip from Huntersvlle, 4 hours up, 2 hours play time, and 4 hours back. I was sore for a few days.

As the Thread says, Nov 2-4. It is a full weekend event

I suggest reading the first post for all the details.

I really hope my car is out of the shop by the end of the week. I don't want to drive the Dragon in a rental HHR

I hear you, I am in a Ford Focus. I hope to have mine back as well. Mine is in its sixth week in the shop, in the last year.

Your's is in for a stereo issue, right? Can't you just ask them to leave your radio unplugged, bring it to the Dragon, and drop it off again to have it finished?

The good news is that I've got a ton of room in the back for anyone that is planning on bringing a lot of stuff and needs someplace to put it for the trip over

you guys say a prayer for me. I went out to play disc golf today in the mountains of NC, and my knee gave out on the second tee, a nice shot over a lake. I heard it pop twice on my way to the ground, and just laid there a few minutes, and now it's swollen pretty big. I'm up here in Boone, and will probably stop by the hospital to take a look at it. The thing that sucks, April can't drive a stick. Just hope it's good by Friday!!!
