Reunited after six weeks at the dealer
I just got my 2009 JCW coupe back from the dealership after 6 weeks. We bought the car sight unseen last October and quickly discovered that we had been taken for a ride. We spent a few bucks and got the car fixed up and we really fell in love with the car. Who wouldn't.
Fast forward to the first warm day in May here in SoCal and the a/c sounds like a blender filled with bolts. I think, "Uh oh, here we go again. Let's see what other stupid things the previous owner had done to the car that the dealer won't cover." I took it to the dealer, expecting them to tell me that the compressor had gone out. Nope. The a/c compressor mount that is part of the engine block had broken. The only way to repair it is to replace the engine block. And that is what they did, only they just dropped in a new, complete plug and play engine. It took a week to get approval from the higher ups to cover it under warranty (there was concern that the car had been in an accident and that may have caused the mount to break) and 3 weeks to get the engine. It took the final 2 weeks to get an intake hose.
I almost forgot how much fun it was to drive a car. The dealer had me in a Camry for 2 weeks and then a new 328 for the last 4 weeks. Both are nice enough cars, but they aint a JCW.
Just wanted to share.

Yes, I was very happy to post a positive story about a dealer experience. Especially, since I was the beneficiary. And yes, the car was in an accident on the driver's side, but the a/c compressor is on the passenger side. It was not too serious of an accident -- no body panels had to be replaced and the hood is still the original one. The dealer was aware of the damage as they gave us a very large estimate to repair it. If you are ever thinking of buying a car sight unseen from another state, just ask me how NOT to do it.
