Retrofit Auto Dim Mirror

I have a JCW cabrio that does not have a auto dim mirror and I am searching for one. The question I have Is if anyone knows whether this is a simple plug n play thing. Can I just remove the existing mirror and stick the auto dim on? Doesn't it need power of some kind and is it prewired?

Lastly - is the auto dim unit the same across years 06-09 or before?

Anyone have the part number I should be looking for?

Thanks for any help!

I don't have an answer for whether the MINI is "plug 'n' play," although I know this is an easy swap for a number of BMW models, so...

It looks like this is your part, if you have a factory JCW Convertible. I doubt the mirrors from the earlier (pre-2009) convertibles are compatible with the 2009+ convertibles, as they have different part numbers. But stranger things have happened...

Hi,

The mirror isn't plug and play, but it can be done. I installed it in my car and there are some wires that have to have jumpers to make it work.

I believe most of the information is in this thread:

Good luck. It's a wonderful addition and had I not bought my car used, I would have opted for it to be installed from the get-go. It only took about half an hour to do the wiring though, and it's all done on the mirror itself.
