Used JCW Clubman pricing question
Used JCW Clubman pricing question
I'm hoping to get some insight into what the market is like for a used 2009 JCW Clubman. At the end of the month I'll be in the market (once my house closes). I sold my 2003 MCS a few years back when my kids outgrew the backseat and have missed being behind the wheel of a MINI since.
Initially I started looking for a 2008-2009 Clubman S but I know I'll modify anything I buy and if I can get into a JCW I'll have a more robust foundation to begin with (turbo, brakes, etc.). I've done some initial looking over the past few weeks nationally and have found them as low as $22k for a pretty bare bones car to $30k+ for a 2009 JCW Clubman. Ideally I'd like to stay at the lower end but would certainly appreciate the forums insight into my chances. I'm located in Seattle which typically has the most expensive cars in the nation for resale but am willing to fly and drive or possibly ship a car for the right one (options, price, etc.).
So, any insight from those that have picked up a used JCW Clubman or traded in/lease returned an earlier JCW Clubman? Right now I'm looking at 2009 with a few options and they are asking $25k. I'd love to hear what people are paying or getting for their cars. If you're not comfortable posting please feel free to send me a PM.

Kelley Blue Book online is a pretty good resource for determining a nationwide average of prices for used cars; it's pretty comprehensive, and will let you factor in mileage and pretty-much any options that mean anything on the used car market.
Another source that at least gives some idea about regional price variations is CarGurus. Not every used vehicle on the market is evaluated on their listing, so you might have to do some "comparison shopping" by finding a comparable vehicle to the one you're considering.
Right now on AutoTrader, there are 15 2009 JCW Clubmans on the used car market, mostly in the mid- to upper-$20k range (and I hope you like Chili Red, 'cause that's the bulk of the offerings...). Unfortunately, the closest to Seattle is almost 1,000 miles away...
Most of the offerings on AutoTrader seem to be concentrated up and down the Eastern Seaboard. But based on the price range displayed there, $25k seems like it's about the low-price end for an '09 JCW Clubman.
If you turn up something of interest in the Pittsburgh area or Lexington, KY (where I'm spending the bulk of my time right now), PM me and I'll be happy to put "eyes on" it for you. I get down San Antonio way about once every three months as well, so I can check out a vehicle there for you as well, if the timing works out. May save you a trip for nothing.
