Carbotech Bobcat brake pads for 09+ JCW
Carbotech Bobcat brake pads for 09+ JCW
I am thinking about swapping out my brake pads for some ceramic pads. There is too much brake dust and the Challenge wheels are a "challenge" to clean
. I have heard that the Carbotech brake pads are a good upgrade to the OEM pads. Any comments or recommendations.
Does it make sense to pay the extra money to get them pre-bedded?
Not doing any track time in the near future. I do drive very aggressively though. You may have seen the youtube videos I posted in the DoS intake thread in the R56 Cooper S drivetrain sub-forum or my decreased MPG since getting the RMW tune comments in that thread.
Where is a good place to order these from with fair shipping prices?

I am interested in any suggestions/comments on this topic as well. I will be autoxing my JCW but want to keep it in stock class - will changing pads still be allowed?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

CT Bobcats 1521 are good street pads. Quiet and relatively free of brake dust with good brake modulation. You do not need to buy them pre bedded. It is not recommended that you use these brake pads on the track.
I would not worry about aggressive street driving with these pads. For example, a full track pad on the track only lasts about 8 hours (or less than 4 days). So you cannot be more aggressive than on the track.

If you are thinking of using the brake pads for autox, then you should be looking for pads that with different characteristics than street or track pads. With autox, you want pads that have great bite while it is relative cold and does not have to get real hot (less than 600 degrees usually). I would think that CT AX6 is better for autox than CT 1521.
