Personally I would choose the convenience package that makes it easier to locks/unlock your car -- alarm system -- actually, depends on the bucks you want to spend. I got everything on my Cricket except the satellite radio & nav system (got a Garmin instead). I am totally happy with what I got & would not eliminate or add a thing. I didn't want to start thinking "shoulda woulda coulda" down the road, so I went almost full pop & am glad I did. Whatever you choose it will be custom to your needs & choices so be happy with it cause it's all YOURS! good luck with your new Baby! CONGRATULATIONS!

Add rear fog lights, it breaks up the back panel, not a lot of $, Xenon Headlights as well. There is a lot of dealer stuff as well that I got. But be careful it adds up fast. I spent $2700 with labor. Also a interior color line breaks up the interior.

Sport suspension - good
Rear fog lamp - good
Sirius - personal preference
HD Radio - I've heard from alot of people that this is not worth the money
HK Sound System - good

if you're trying to go light on extras, the only other things that I would probably add are: xenon headlights (my biggest must-have) and bluetooth/ipod adapter (my second biggest must-have).

He's got the rear fogs already.

Only things I would do are the xenons, heated seats and bluetooth. I wish I got bluetooth. Maybe get cloth instead of the leatherette if you don't want to heat them. The cloth feels so much nicer to me personally anyways.

Keeping it light, I'd nix the HD and Satellite, and definitely put Xenons on the list.

I second the Rear Fogs, just to fill the holes for one C note. Also, the Cold Package is one heck of a deal. Yout get the heated fold outside mirrors, heated seats and heated windshield washers. But, if you live in Southern Cal, then you might not feel the need for this.

hey hemisedan, I read your posts and I have a few older cars too. I have a 1970 Corvette converible which I owned for 23 years. I aslo have a 1969 Camaro SS 396/375 car with about 72,000 miles on it. Still has the original spiral shocks on it and original paint..going over to a turbo car too for daily driver

If you want a 2009 JCW in pepper white with almost the exact same options, but including the cold weather package, for about $6000 less, I'm selling mine with 9400 miles on it.

I think they're useful in socal, especially with leather/leatherette. It was 45 degrees this morning when I left for work at 8AM. The heated seats are well worth the $ to me

We, here in Iowa, really needed them this morning, and tomorrow we REALLY will need them. High for Wednesday is only suppose to be +11, and that is after an 8"-11" of snow. Oh, just for kicks, Mother Nature is going to add a 40 mph wind, just for kicks. Glad my wife has a Jeep Liberty with 4-wheel drive and I only work 2 miles away.

On a side note, my Majestic Glacier-Grip tires worked great on my Miata this morning. 8+ inches of snow is a different matter.

WJ94, I've seen pictures of your JCW and would really consider it, if this was next May, but my lease is still on for another 8 months. Your price is right, the car looks like new, but timing is just wrong. Sorry.

Looking back at my posts, I can only say this: I really regret buying my mini. It has been a huge disappointment reliability wise. I have had to spend several thousand dollars on assorted engine repairs and it has left me stranded several times. The engine and associated components are just crap.
Who makes a performance car without an oil pressure gauge or temp gauge anyway? That is just silly, but they do offer a top down gauge for the convertible. It is past time for it to go.

the big thing I did wrong was buying a mini. The engine design and associated components are just not reliable. The intake valves require walnut blasting every 30,000 to 40,000 miles. The hpfp has failed three times in five years. The timing chain and tensioner has been a problem from the start. The cylinder head will need to come off at around 100,000 miles to have new valve guides installed. Indication of this is high oil consumption- 1 quart per tank of gas was my symptom.
