So I've been driving my JCW for a few weeks...

...after taking it to the mothership for its first service, what's strange is that when I park the car after driving it (not spirited) and shut it down. The car is totally silent. A couple of minutes later, a fan noise kicks on. It is literally minutes, not seconds as one would think would happen.

Now, I've had the fan "on" after parking it, which is a non event but to shut the car off, not hear any fans...then a few minutes later the fans come on.

This didn't happen before I took it in. Now, all of a sudden after the dealership visit, its happening. What gives?

Is everyone's JCW doing this? Mine is a July 08 build.

This sort of got me thinging about something. Since I bought the car and I'm paying the bills and its legally mine, shouldn't I have the right to know exactly what they did to the car down to the last parameter they set/reset via the computer? Am I within my rights to request and receive the information from the dealership?

So now my fan comes on when it didn't before. Does that mean someone made a mistake or have I been driving around for a year and my <insert component here> has lost some life because the fans didn't come on when they were supposed to?

It could be just the water pump cooling the turbo down, and once the water temp reaches a certain temp the fan kicks in.

Could be that while moving, things didn't get hot enough. When you stop and there is a bit of time for the heat soak to spread, maybe then it becomes hot enough that the water pump and the fan need to run.
