Sport Suspension "Noise"

I was pleasantly suprised by the ride in my JCW Clubman with the Sport Suspension option. I had expected a rougher ride; but the combination of the Clubman's longer wheelbase and newer-generation run-flat tires is fine.

HOWEVER, about 2 months after taking delivery I've started to experience a creaking or clicking in the rear of the car whenever entering a driveway at an angle. You can hear it when entering and exiting at an angle. You can tell there is some "wheel lift" with the Sport Suspension when transitioning up over the curb into driveways, but the creaking or clicking is annoying.

Anyone else experiencing this noise? I'm wondering if it's the body flexing; or just something in the rear suspension/sway bar that needs adjustment/"lubricating".

I've been considering changing out the rear bar to an H-Sport 22mm bar; but if it's going to "amplify" the problem, I'll forego the stiffer bar.

Anyone out there installed a stiffer rear sway bar to the sport suspension?

Thanks

no but I added a JCW 18.5 mm rsb to my non-SS equipped MCS and the dealer had to tighten some bushings that'd slipped and was causing a "tunk" noise when backing up.

BTW the JCW rsb is a steal at less than $100 for parts, cheaper than the 18mm OEM SS rsb.

FYI a 19mm bar (various makes) is more or less standard for most people who drive on the street. Middle setting usually. The 22mm bar is for trackers mainly. If you're getting that you'd better watch your rear end (literally) for oversteer if you overdrive it or you'll find yourself looking at where you've been. The 19 is hard to screw up IMO.

I get a noise from the rear of the car (2009 JCW Coupe) when I exit my parking garage. I drive down 5 stories and each time I turn and go down a ramp, I hear a rattle in the back. I thought it might be something in the cover that covers the rear area or a rattle associated with the rear hatch. I never considered that it might be the suspension, but it's hard to track these things down when you're the driver.

I've got the sports suspension, and the more I think about it, the more I think you may be on to something connecting it to the rear suspension. This is my first out of four MCSs that is nearly rattle free (except for the rattle mentioned above).

How's your tire pressure? If it's okay take it to the dealer, it's possible something is loose or it could be just bushings and such needing a little silicone. I had a car that did the creeking just like you described, it wasn't a MINI, but if I lubed the joints with a little silicone spray the creeks would go a way until it needed a new go round.

I do have the sport suspension upgrades, and the noise does not occur on mine. Lube it would be my suggestion, if you don't want to have the dealer check it first.

I have a JCW Cooper and I don't get the creeking and I can feel the wheel lift over humps in center of road near me. My brakes can so some serious screeching and car is in getting looked at as I write. It was that bad. Other than that, there are no complaints. They cave me a Clubman S as loaner, and all I can say is I am sooooo happy with the boost you get with JCW!
