I just found out that the BBS LM 17" 4x100 17lbs will clear the Big brembo brakes, the only bad side of that is that they are $700 each...

batty_bruce 11-15-2008 05:06 PM

i did a test fit of my 17" Rota Subzero's today. No problems and plenty of clearance around the calipers.

I'm tempted to get winter tires w/them now. But is there any truth to they not being produced anymore?::

good looking pics. nice find.

all i can show off is a "pro quality" iphone pic.

my subzero's have been my summer rims for the past two years and i am quite happy that they fit the new mini. I like the lightish weight and "black chrome" finish on my red cars.

ENGINE 58 11-17-2008 06:35 PM

they look sweet guys, can you get them in flat black?

SmokeM 11-27-2008 04:06 AM

Will a 42 offset work with with the JCW calipers? What about a 73 hub bore (whatever that means)?

I believe the bigger concern is the rim's back-spacing depth [the depth from the spokes to the hub face], affected by both the offset & [moreso I believe] by the rim geometry in the depth of the rim's spokes.

wow I really like the torques with the red lip. That would look great on my 08 MCS PW/W

This is true. The shape and design of the wheel's spokes and rim are going to determine whether or not it will fit over the brake caliper. The offset is somewhat important, because if it's too low the tire will hit the fender, and if it's too high the tire and/or wheel can hit the strut, brake, or fender liner. But for most wheels on the JCW the brake clearance is going to be the determining factor as to whether the wheel fits on the car or not.

Hub bore is just the size of the center hole of the wheel. The MINI has a 56.1mm hub, so anything larger should have a hubcentric ring to center the wheel.

Updated. This wheel will not fit directly, but will with a 5mm spacer.

Definitely "my bad" for using the wrong terminology, calling it backspacing instead of what it is, caliper depth/height. Sorry all about that.

Is there any chance the Rota RB 16x7 would fit with a spacer, or is the inside radius of the wheel just too small ?
They're just the perfectly proportioned wheels on my MCS and I'd love to keep them for when we get a JCW.

I don't think any of the 16" wheels fit over the front brakes.

Another:

I'm looking at track wheels for the JCW....anyone know if the Kosei K1-TS will fit OK? Thanks.

Mach V Dan 02-05-2009 08:43 PM

K1's have very good brake clearance. I'd guess they'd fit.

OK, i'm reading conflicting info all over the place. What is the offset for the factory JCW challenge wheel? I'm seeing 42-48...............

Factory JCW wheel is 23.1 pounds. And according to the MINI2 wheel list, it's +48mm offset.

I'm trying to get wheels that are the same exact size as the stock ones, so that I can stay in the stock class in Auto-cross.

Are our rims 17x7?

The team dynamic rims will work for me as long as the stock wheel is 7 inch width and not 7.5.

Thanks!

What is the country of manufacture of these wheels? Will this wheel accomodate the stock TPMS sensor? Also, with the JCW suspension installed, can we install a 215/45/17 tire on this wheel without worrying about any rubbing issues?

Dave:

I don't want to sound rude what so ever. I'm just very concerned with buying a rim that I've never personally seen fit over my calipers in person. Does Mach V have any return policy on these if they don't fit? Do you have a photo of them on a JCW (front wheel pic would be best)? I'm just trying to kill the inner-worrier in me.

Thanks!
