Mechanical LSD vs EDLC (JCW 2009)
Mechanical LSD vs EDLC (JCW 2009)
Hi!
I presently own a Cooper S JCW Step 1(192 hp) but I'm just considering buying the new factory JCW;the only thing that makes me a bit doutful is the EDLC...
In my Mini I have the mechanical LSD and I found it very funny to drive, even because I use to race in rallyes ,where every car has got mechanical LSD.
I can say that the Mini LSD is not the same as a race type LSD but is very close to in the feelings that trasmits during fast bends(not in tights ones).
Can anybody that has tried both ,mech and elec ,please make a comparison between the 2 types of differentials?
Thank you!

There were a few write ups by new owners and test drivers on the Mini2 web site. Most feedback was very positive. www.Mini2.com
I've got LSD on my 08 MCS, and still have torque steer. The 09 JCW I drove yesterday had exactly NO torque steer. Don't know how they do it, but it was pretty amazing, given the power and as hard as I was accelerating in a 90 deg. turn.

In my opinion the torque steer it's a good thing because helps to "feel" the car better... Anyway what I'm wondering is : do the EDLC helps close the bends like the LSD or not? Or it is only a feature that helps not burn the inside tire?
The sportier drivers maybe will agree with me if I say that on FWD there is nothing better than the feeling of the front wheels that close the bends with a good LSD instead of understeer.
