The New F54 MINI Clubman - Speculation / Info Thread

Folks,

Starting this thread for us to discuss and speculate about the F54 Clubman which will replace the R55.

The concept...

The test mule:

Personally I can't wait to see what it looks like in Jan 2015 when they release it at the Paris motor show.

As a F56 owner with a baby on the way, I may even consider an order!

The front end scoop / spoiler area looks much better than the MCS hardtop version.

I like the front end on the concept car much better than the F56. It's much more aggressive looking and has that British sports car hood slope and grill design.

Read several places where the new Four Door is going to replace the Clubman.
Seems the only difference will be which way the hatch opens.
Single hatch vertically or
Double horizontally.

As far as I know (according to Motoringfile) the Clubman (F54) is completely separate from the F55. It's scheduled to be released sometime in 2015 I think.

This is correct. Both The 4 door Cooper and 4 door clubbie are speculated to be here next year. I am looking forward to seeing the new clubbie as well.

The new F55 4 door hatch replaces the outgoing R55 Clubman in terms of size.

The new F54 Clubman will be a larger 4 door car with a superior boot size and more legroom than the F55.

I will be SERIOUSLY tempted to put an order in for the F54 when more details ore released and a production spec car has been revealed!

It's nice for a station wagon.

They found a bigger sunroof!

What a line up.
Now we need a low profile Roadster with a manual ragtop.

I was really hoping they would keep the half door. Now it's ruined in my eyes. :(

My wife is pretty bummed by the new design, though her Clubman only has 30k miles on it, so we'll have it awhile.

I could actually get on-board with this. The design of the concept doesn't trigger my gag reflex like the F56 does. The front end shows small signs of improvement, and I like the back end much better than the CM or F56. If I have need for a bigger car when these hit the dealers I would definitely consider it.

I wouldn't hold your breath, I suspect when it get released the face will look very similar to the F56, only wider. We can hope though, because the bumper on the concept is amazing.

That's a very horrible looking Mini. They did away with the C pillar color contrasting look which was the best thing about the old Clubman. This new one is just like the Countryman with different rear doors, nobody's gonna buy it.

This is correct. The soon to be released F55 4-door Hardtop is technically the successor to the outgoing Clubman. It has the same increase to rear seat, wheelbase and boot dimensions compared to the F56 as the R55 does with the R56; hence the model designation F55.

The F54, for which MINI is trying to license the Traveler name, will become the largest MINI model - even larger than the current Countryman. It is wider than the F55/F56 as well and therefore receives its own unique FRONT FASCIA and INTERIOR. It is rumored to not share those items with the F55/F56, but with the upcoming redesign of the F60/F61 models. I have heard that the new F54 will be similar in size, albeit slightly smaller, than the current 3-series Touring (wagon). It will also be the first MINI to use diesel power in the US as well as a gas/electric or diesel/electric hybrid drive system and optional all wheel drive (ALL4).

Sadly, since MINI has been pushing back all of the new models, we may not see the F54 until later 2015 as a 2016 model. The F55 is now delayed to end of year or 1st quarter 2015 and the F57 convertible is TBD.

If you searched around you might have come across this already.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop out of my Countryman order and wait to see what comes up in the next year. This Clubman style appeals to me more so then the Countryman. Had I been aware of it prior to my order I would of never ordered and would of waited. I don't like dropping out of things like this but something that costs 30k and I'll have for many years to come I think I'm going to make an exception.

Sure, if you don't mind waiting. The F54 (not yet officially named Clubman) is not scheduled to hit dealer showrooms until late 2015 or early 2016 as a 2016 model. Typically, the new vehicle will be shown as a production version at the Geneva (March), Paris/Frankfurt (September), LA (November) or NY (April) Auto Shows well before launch. Currently, the next two models to be launched are F55 (to be debuted at the LA Auto Show in November - on sale 1st Quarter 2015) and F57 (to be debuted at the Geneva Auto Show in March or NY Auto Show in April 2015 - on sale Summer 2015) ... then the F54 (possibly LA in November 2015).

I don't mind waiting. I'm expecting it to be at least a year before I am able to place an order. And even if it takes a bit more then a year I would be ok with that. For something that I will hopefully be driving around for over ten years a one year wait isn't a very long wait. I guess if my current car was unreliable that would be another story. Lucky for me my current car is still in perfect working order.

Anyway, maybe a gamble but better to wait for something that is more spot on to my style then buy something that that isn't the bullseye. Not to say that the Countryman isn't a fine looking car because I think it is! I just am more drawn to the Clubman.

The new concept for the Clubman is much more to my taste than the F56, whose front end I hate.

I like pretty much everything of the way this Clubman looks. I hope they don't change it.

And I like the size and utility of it.

My biggest problem these days with my R56S, is that it is difficult for some people to get in the back seat. This would definitely solve that problem.

I wonder if they would keep the same engine on the Clubman as the F56 or would they give it some more power to make up for more weight?

Probably same engines, but supposedly they are bringing the diesel engine to it as well.

And I really really hope they can get the Traveller name. It's has bugged me to no end that they call it a Clubman when it looks nothing remotely like the classic Clubman.

I bet they are the same engines. People who really need 4 passengers need bigger cars with more weight don't expect quite as fast a car. It should be a lot more fun to drive than many similar cars, maybe not as nimble as the R56/F56 models. What makes Minis different from other similar cars was the weight of 2600 lbs, which I wager will creep upward with the bigger cars.

Concept vehicles rarely make it to production exactly as they are, but elements can sneak through. This MINI is just something else. I hope the multiple circular displays make it to production and trickle through the lineup in the future. The MkIII Audi TT with its gorgrous TFT Hi Res display comes to mind.

So MINI just released production dates for the new F54!

B38/B48 variants to be produced beginning July 2015 - figure US sale dates of September as a 2016 model.

ALL4 All Wheel Drive variants to be produced beginning March 2016.

B47C20O0 diesel variants (2.0 same as European Cooper SD) are confirmed to be produced for the US market, but their production schedule has not been released.
