How to find out how many key fobs are registered to my car?
Hi all,
I searched on here and couldn't find the info - does anybody know if I can use any tool like Bimmercode or Bimmer Link to find out how many key fobs are registered to my car?
A backstory - recently I had my windshield replaced and after the guy was done he said he had to take my car out for a drive to run the re-calibration for the traffic camera that's on the windshield. He told me he can't take me with him because it's company policy but the last time they replaced my windshield a bit over a year ago the guy let me drive and he run the diagnostic tool on his tablet from the passengers seat, and we were done in like 5-10 minutes.
This guy took my car for a drive and didn't come back for a whole hour. He did call me after like half an hour to tell me that he wasn't successful in calibrating the camera and that he'll need more time but it sounded to me like if I heard some weird noises and other people voices in the background, almost as if he was in a shop or something. When he came back after an hour he told me he wasn't able to recalibrate the camera and that he even went to their shop to try it there and wasn't successful. He then told me that I should go back to their shop again so that they could try it again - but if he already went to their shop and they weren't successful how are they going to be successful on the second visit? But then I started thinking, what if he went to his friend's shop and made a clone of my key fob - and I know it's a bit paranoid on my side and that's a very slim slim chance of something like that happening but it still could.
I called the dealer and the service advisor told me they can scan my car and find out if there's a 3rd key fob registered to my car and delete it for me. But I'd like to see if I can do it myself somehow and avoid 1 hour dealership fee in the process. Does anybody know if it can be done without a dealer visit?
Thanks in advance.

Has the dealer told you they would charge? I remember that the SA had a key reader at their desks, and could see the history there.
Have the SA at least read you fob, it will tell them how many keys are registered. You can then make an informed decision
BTW, You are NOT paranoid.

The SA reader will tell you how many fobs are linked.
To add a fob you need an existing one in hand.
So your fob in hand will have registered a new one.
forget the appt, just show up and ask the SA to read your fob first.
if it shows 3 then let them tell you how to proceed.
