Ours came in this week. Took about 20 minutes to install. I was pretty familiar with removing the panel that this replaces. We had it off to install our subwoofer volume *** couple years ago. We put the *** on the new piece. Charging shelf works great.
So it appears I have an extra plug that isn’t anywhere in the video. Did anyone run into this? Having issues getting those wires off. Thoughts? Maybe the 2022’s are different?
looks like that extra connector is a fiber optic cable.
Sorry my 2022 only had the 1 USB connection just like the install video. Im not sure what options you have to have to get the 2 USBs. I finally got the missing piece for mine. I have been waiting since November because mine came without the 12v power socket, (it somehow fell off before being packaged and shipped? It still had the glue around the edge) I installed it anyway cause I rarely use that receptacle. I had to take it out today to glue that part back in. I love the wireless charging pad but has anyone else noticed it still gets pretty hot and doesnt really charge that fast? I thought that was the advantage over the armrest charger.

@IrishCooper you are correct, while charging my iPhone inside the armrest on my previous MINI it used to get really hot and intermittently show the temperature warning alert
I have not had this issue while using the SCP Automotive charger and my iPhone is inside a leather case. It does get a little warm but never hot and I don’t have that alert anymore.
With charging slowly I’ve seen it happen when my phone is charging past 80% (optimize battery charging is enabled)
@ironhead3fan I believe the iconic trim does include a second USB port.
@RichsMINI@steelrat I have an iPhone 12 with a apple silicon case and ive had my phone get so hot it gives me the temp warning on the screen and I have to take it off the SCP charger and set it on the seat to cool down. It usually only happens on long car rides.
So far I've only had to go on a 1hr drive or so. I haven't had to do long trips (like whole day), there's nowhere to really go..... How long was it on the charger? In theory, they should stop charging if battery = 100%
But my 13pro wasn't stupid hot by any means. Running 15.3.1 for the test.... But maybe it has to do with the the charging coil alignment.
@ironhead3fan, I wanted to give you an update on my wireless charger.
A couple of months ago my iPhone started to get really hot after being on the charger for about 20-30 minutes and would stop charging.
: Performed troubleshooting steps with iPhone and the SCP charger
- Issue only occurred on the SCP charger and functioned normally on a Google Pixel Stand wireless charger
- Same issue occurred with another phone on the SCP charger
: MINI's software was up-to-date, no blown fuses and no codes found when scanning with the NT710
- Removed the SCP charger, no damage to cables and the inline fuse was not blown
- Reseated all cables to no avail and the 12v outlet fell out of the enclosure...
Well this week I'm permanently uninstalling it, was a great two years of usage
I contacted SCP Automotive UK and waiting for a response
@RichsMINI Wow! Mine has gottem warm but not anywhere close to what I would consider hot. I do have a stand charger for my iPhone, and it doesn't get as warm on that but I figured all chargers would vary to a degree or two (pun intended). Charging on that charger is not particurily fast though. What was your experience?
Let me know how you make out. I'm thinking of downsizing my next phone so I could just use the armrest charger at that point and not worry with the dash charger. I would hate not to use it, spent a fair amount of money on it.
Thanks for keeping me in the loop. Let me know the outcome if you don't mind.
Thanks.

This is one of the first things I bought for my car, in fact I ordered when I ordered my car so it would be here once I took delivery so I could install it. When I got it, the cig lighter socket was missing and it took them about a month to send me a replacement. I really like it for convenience, and no it doesnt go flying when you take hard turns, it stays in place. My only complaint is that it charges pretty slow and heats up the phone alot.
