So in my understanding, to make the hood scoop functional all I would need is the hood scoop itself? no cutting into the hood or replacing the hood?

 

No cutting into the hood or replacing. You could just remove the black screen that keeps it blocked off but unless you have a way of routing the air to the air box there really isn't a need to remove it. The engine gets plenty of cooling with it closed off, if you want it open just for personal reasons then I totally get it.

 

There is an intake system that replaces the hood scoop and routes the piping so that it goes to the intake. Its called the Eventuri Intake. Its a bit pricey though. And as mentioned theres is no need to open the scoop cause the incoming air wont go anywhere unless you just like the look.
