F55/F56 Battery recoding on the cheap?
Battery recoding on the cheap?
I'm about to change the battery in a 2015 Cooper S. I've read I don't have to recode the battery, but I've also seen a few anecdotes that not doing so can cause issues with the alternator and battery lifetime.
I've got a couple of ODB2 adapters. One is a cheap generic ELM327 bluetooth adapter and the other is an OBDLink MX wifi. Neither Bimmercode nor Carly are compatible with either adapter. Are there any apps for iOS, Android or Windows that can do the job and is compatible with one of the adapters I have?
Is there anything else out there besides Bimmercode and Carly?

I stumbled on
for an app the creator has developed that can do battery registration for E series BMWs. It doesn't seem like it would be a good idea to try in on an F56 mini but it does seem to indicate that it's not a technical problem to use an inexpensive ELM327 to perform a battery registration.
Are people just using Bimmercode or Carly for this stuff?
