Since the F56 has frameless windows when you open the door the window rolls down slightly so it clears the gasket on close, then rolls back up on close. a while ago I noticed that my windows didn't always roll back up on close but figured it was no big deal when it happened occasionally. Now though they aren't rolling down on open which means when I close the door the window is on the outside of the gasket. This means either a gap is being left between the window ant eh frame or worse, the door is unable to close completely.
Obviously when this happens when I'm in the car its not a big deal to roll the window down and back up, or when the passenger leaves the car the driver can roll down/up the passenger window. But when it happens when I turn the card off and leave there's no way to do that. I've followed the instructions for re-initializing the windows in the manual and that solves the problem for a few days, but I'm having to do that once a week at least.
Anyone else dealt with this? Its a 2019 and still under warranty so I was going to call the deal and schedule service but wanted to get an idea of what it might be and if its fixable before I did that so I can let the dealer know ahead of time if they need to order parts or something. Its a 90 minute round trip to the dealer and I don't want to hang around if its a long repair.
I don’t know if the reset procedure is the same or not but for us gen 2 people, hit and hold the switch down for 15 seconds after the window has reach the bottom. Then hit and hold up for 15 seconds after completely rolled up.
For 3rd Gen its just to hold it up for 15 seconds after it hits bottom. It will roll up and pause, then after 15 seconds it will roll down and up twice. That will re-initialize the window, and that doe fix it, but only for a few days. Then it starts happening again.
Well, figured out the problem. Went out Monday night and Donatello wouldn't start. Turns out I got a defective battery (completely dead after 30 months). Had it down to the dealer and they swapped it out under warranty. They said the issue with the windows is almost certainly due to the electrical faults the battery was causing.
I had a problem with my window going past the point where it's supposed to stop and so when I was closing my door the top of the window would hit the frame and not close properly. Someone posted this fix on a different forum.
I fixed my other window that didn't have auto close. I thought the passenger one didn't have that feature for some reason so I just never bothered. But I just fixed it and it's awesome.
When it says "to the resistance point" it means the first click, not the second. Just for anyone who's doing this.
In September I started seeing similar problems with my windows again. Then after being out of town for a couple nights when I started the car it was slow to turn over. When I got back in the car after running my errand it was very slow to get started. so I drove straight over and got a battery swap. Pretty clear that the windows not opening/closing correctly when the door is opened is an indicator the battery is dying.
