F55/F56 Help : Rear License Plate Bracket
Help : Rear License Plate Bracket
Recently just bought my 2014 MCS, and the bolts that would hold the license to the holder were stripped and rusted in so I just ended up buying a new license plate holder.
The part number that that was on the back of the original one was 51187160607 and that’s what I ordered through FCP Euro. When I went to pick up the package from FedEx I received part number 51139448724. Not sure if this part superseded the original one, but it doesn’t have a threaded insert to attach the plate to the holder on the top or bottom. FCP is closed today so thought I would ask the community. Did FCP send me the wrong item or does it just use self tapping screws now? Wanted to ask before I do something and it’s no longer returnable.

The bracket you received from the picture is a defective old style bracket that is missing the brass inserts.
BMW recently redesigned the bracket to use self tapping screws and eliminate the machine screws. The screw holes in the new bracket are smaller than the old screws.
When I would sell the old bracket I always gave people a little lubriplate to put on the screws to keep from locking up due to the dissimilar metal of the steel screw and brass insert.

Do you have a picture of the new style?
When I modified mine I had my dad fabricate some "nuts" for me by tapping a few pieces of steel bracket plate and then I Gorilla glued them to the back of the plate bracket. You can't see them anyway and they work like a charm. Also, didn't cost me anything since he had the parts lying around.
After 10+ years, I can't unscrew the screws to get the plate off my R50.
The number is correct:

I have the same, and there are sheet metal screws for the plate
