Stinky AC - Where is the drain tube?

Hello all,

I've been following this forum for a while but this will my first post.
Earlier this year I bought a 2015 MCS, and the car AC start to produce unpleaseant odor. I called nearest Mini and they said the TSB regarding ac odor has been done on my mini. I've also replaced the filter to carbon activated filter but the odor still there.
I've been reading this forum quite a bit and some says check the AC drain line. Des anyone have a picture of the drain line and the location of it? There are several picture of the R56 but it seems it look different on a F56 mini.
I plan to use one of the AC evaporator cleaner through the drain line.

Thanks for the advice!

So, if you replaced the filter, that may be the problem. IN addition to kinked drain lines (not on all cars), the filter was sitting too low in it's slot. The filter was getting soaked in water and mildewing. They had a fix that would build the filter up out of the water that was running below it and keeping the filter dry. AS I recall it was glue. Talk to your dealer and ask about that.

I would hope that the new filters were engineered to allow more space, but who knows, I had a 2015 and went through the entire ordeal. A kinked drain line would cause water to pool in the passenger side foot well. Check the carpet for wetness. If it's not, your drain line is fine. Mine was kinked and had to be fixed. The smell was the filter getting soaked.

Hope this helps.

The fix was to put a bead of hot glue on the bottom of the filter to raise it enough so condensation could run under it and reach the drain without saturating the filter media. Solved the problem for me.
