Hot Bonnet?

Picked up my first Mini on Friday, a F56S, and been loving it all weekend. I was out in the garage this evening and happened to put my hand on the bonnet and was surprised at how warm it was, considering we had been home for a couple of hours. It wasn't scalding or anything but it it were winter my hands would have been toasty warm by resting on it. Now it sat outside in the warm sun all day while I was at work, sat in the garage for an hour or so before we went out to dinner, and then was in the garage for a couple of hours before I touched it. I found older posts from 5+ years ago about S models having hot bonnets, has that continued to the newest models? Is this something I should be concerned about or is this just how the car is?

You’ve got to remember that the coolant in that little motor runs between 225 and 230 degrees all the time. When you turn the car off there is nowhere for the heat to go. You’ve got the engine compartment nice and toasty but no venting to release the heat. You don’t have a problem as long as the car is not overheating. The computer should tell you if there’s a problem, but I prefer an old fashion analog gauge.

Thanks. That's what I figured but wanted to be sure I wasn't ignoring an important sign that there was an issue or something.

I have an OBD2 reader that shows coolant temp in digital or analog as well as oil temp and a lot of other things. It talks to my phone over Bluetooth.

I always open the hood between the heats, on R56 the plastic scoop melted away, anyhow the only lesson on that is don't use these "fresh air intakes"

As Vet mentioned this is part of the game, and on factory level engines no problem.
