Lost KeyFob for f56

Hey All,

My wife lost one of our key fobs for our MINI f56 :(

Anyone know how much it costs to replace/reprogram? I'm nervous it'll be in the hundreds...

I've found some used keys on eBay, but how would I get it reprogrammed? Is that something I could do myself?

Trying to get this done the cheapest way possible :P lol.

Miniparts Massachusetts was best price I found. You need to fax them some documents. Call and ask. Cant do it yourself, must go to a dealer. Couple of hundred, you can save a bit by not buying the metal key part.

DO NOT waste you bucks on an unknown from ebay. You wouldn't believe the number of posts over the years of hard learned lessons from that mistake.
As the Mooch said, the dealership needs proof of ownership - copy of title/registration and DL - can be faxed or copied to file email. I replaced one for my '06 R52 a year ago a bit over $150.00. When you get it ask the guy at the service desk what buttons and switched have to be pushed to initialize it. I can't remember the sequence, just takes a few seconds.

F-series keys are a little pricier - I wouldn't recommend going 3rd party because no matter what, the dealer is the only place that can program the key in the end and finding a legit blank key 3rd party is REALLY hit or miss. Bite the bullet, save yourself the aggravation and hit up the dealer. Key will probably be $300ish.

Guess I need to quit living in the past price wise. Still, siriuszero is spot on.

On the R56 forums new ones were about $400 as I recall including programming of course.
