First gear in automatic f56

Is it just me or does it seem like the first gear in the automatic f56 is just completely worthless. I feel like my pulls are a lot stronger when I just skipped first gear and use second gear from a stop or through a turn. I kid you not this first gear is literally the shortest gear ive ever had in any car Not to mention that it takes forever to shift to second at wide open throttle ...thoughts?

Ps I feel like I could fit the black pearl ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean in between first and second gear

I agree, it is a short gear, but I guess it helps get better EPA mileage for the car.

The jerkiest shifts from the smooth-shifting auto. transmission involve 1st gear. If I go around a corner, I try to do it at a speed that doesn't give me a jolt from downshifting into 1st.

Mine stays in first for a nanosecond. I agree. Shifts to second really fast though, I hardly notice it but I've got a different AT than you I guess.

I have never driven my car in full auto. I always put it in manual mode and shift it myself. First gear is still short, but you can stay in it longer. I have the sport auto with the paddles, which are a blast.

I rarely use the paddles, and I hadn't heard of many people doing all or most their shifting w/ them. I do like the Sport mode and use that a lot.
