Front-end collision warning

I recently purchased a 2015 Mini Cooper S "Fully Loaded" including Front-end collision warning system. And had some questions if anyone knows about it.

I have the system on "early" to give the prewiring with the most amount of time possible. I have yet to hear an audible sound, no self braking. Today I actually got my first visual warning only in the speedo and HUD. There was no audible warning though.

I tried to find some videos on youtube on this feature but cannot find nothing.

Can anyone provide some insight? I have a feeling this feature is not working properly or I have something set up wrong. The only options for Front-end collision warning only let you set the warning sensitivity.

I was in a rental, a Buick i believe, and that sucker was always going off with the audible alert all the time and found it very useful here in the city.

Hate it when that happens. I've been getting by with the old MK I Eyeball for the last 50+ years.

It will only beep if you get too close, if I remember right from the manual and it won't self brake unless you are going under ~27mph and only then if you're very close. It's also worth noting the braking is only for a second - it will NOT stop the car.

Yeh mine isn't beeping, and the visual display seldomly comes up. Is there a way for service to test it?

The adaptive cruise control is working fine. If a vehicle gets in front of me, visual display appears and vehicle slows to leave the distance selected.

I just don't get it. 55+ years of MK 1 Eyeball and Eyeball-In-The-Sky, so this gizmo is supposed to prevent what? Front end collision warning is fine for those who refuse to look where they're going, but what about the other guy who doesn't have the gizmo and failed at Eyeball 101?
One more example of laziness / relinquishing responsibility.
