How does this not work on an R53?

 

Has anyone else installed one of these? How is the GPS integrated? Do you have to have NAV or can it link up to a Garmin? I'm still considering one of these.

 

As per the part description on ECS's website it sounds like it would work with the Garmin:

"The Head-Up Screen has an integrated smartphone interface.
As a result,information from smartphone apps can also be displayed. Garmin, as a navigation specialist, offers a matching navigation application."

Seems like a really expensive way to replicate the janky cellphone based huds.

Yes, Applications have been updated on the Genuine Euro MINI Part. If you have the factory headsup it's redundant. If you have the factory JCW 3 pot gauges its also might be blocked.

 

Hi ECS, can you tell us a bit more about the applications and where to get them from? I cant see the applications in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Does this unit work with the factory navigation?

 

Hello, R55- F56. The install instructions are at the beginning of this thread. The RHD part number is also listed. There was no mention that i can find about working with navigation.

I noticed the BMW version(s) come with a piece to make it more integrated into the dash top, very similar to the OE HUD.

 

Is the Android app, that seems to be required to set this up, still available? I can't seem to find it in the Google Play store.

I'm desperately looking for them, I have a brand new untit but in need of the installation procedure!
