F55/F56 Another good experience at MAG (Central Ohio)
Another good experience at MAG (Central Ohio)
Well....here we go. MINI #2 ordered and the excitement mounts! For anyone in or near the Central Ohio area, I continue to be impressed with the staff at our local MINI dealer, Midwestern Auto Group. They've recently moved into a "proper" MINI facility (shoutout to UK slang) which is a marked improvement from their older Post Road location.
Very happy with sales staff (Kelsey) and the MINI Sales Manager (Lance) who dedicated a good portion of their afternoon toward making sure my custom order was buttoned up and ready for transmission.
I'll poke around the forums here to see some of the latest guidance on suggestions for tracking as it's been close to five years since our first experience of watching the VIN, checking shipping manifests and using AIS to watch the boat!
Only items I'm working right now are some nit-noid details on discrepancies between the actual CONFIGURATOR sheet and the resulting Production No. Build Sheet. MAG is on it and should clarify today....things like "Body Color Roof and Mirrors" is noted on MY sheet but the Production sheet just shows the color of the car....making sure that, by default, the car is built with body color roof unless stated otherwise.
Also checking to see if they still REQUIRE that the Driving Lights option be wired/installed during the build process (as it was in 2010) or if it truly can be completed at the dealer. Last time we ordered, the car was wired during the build process and I believe the lights went on in Baltimore while the car was in port at the VDC.
If anyone is interested in "fast tracking" a custom build, it looks like MAG has a new allocation of vehicles which just recently hit so maybe you save a few weeks?
Happy motoring!

Hey, congrats on your new build! I was reading your post and I also ordered body color roof and mirrors on mine and I can confirm that on my VIR sheet it doesn't specify roof body color or mirrors, just the color itself which in my case is B58 Thunder Gray Metallic. However once you get your VIN if you go to BMWVIN.com and decode it at the bottom under series options you should see option 3AB Body Coloured Mirror Caps.
Of course you won't be able to see that till you get your VIN, but I'm pretty sure you should be okay there!
Just throwing in some of my own experience that the online configurator doesn't always show the same things. For example when I ordered my MCS back in January the online configurator showed the Wired Upgrade as being $1350 but on the VIR it showed it as $850. My MA and I had went line by line comparing each item on the MINI USA build sheet and the actual VIR sheet trying to track down why it was $500 dollars cheaper like something had been left off but that's what it was just a price change. Everything else matched spec for spec on each sheet.
Hope your enjoy your new MINI!

+1 on MAG. I've been buying cars from them for 20 years (including 4 MINIS) and have always had great experiences with them. Check out Mid Ohio Motoring who meet every third Saturday at Tim Horton's in New Albany.
Thanks, Indie and CHK! Good to see such quick and informative feedback on here.
I also heard back from MAG with exactly the same info so much appreciated.
Will probably "cave" and start looking at my PROD NO online here in a day or so.
Thanks for the reminder on Tim Horton's, CHK! I will certainly try to make at least one or two once I get the YET UN-NAMED new one and am in town.
