Mini Cooper base slow upshifting

Hi, I've noticed that my mini takes a lot of time (around 2 seconds) to lower revs when upshifting specially from 1st to 2nd gear.
I saw this video in youtube

Notice how fast his revs drop between gear changes. Does this guy dump the clutch to match the revs (faster lowering of revs) of the next gear or is this the normal behavior of the car?
My car would drop revs a lot slower and I'd much rather not dump the clutch to shift quicker. How much time does it take to perfectly upshift in the mini normally?
I've uploaded a video showing upshifts on my mini, compared to the one posted above it takes a lot more time to reach the rev shift range.

Am I doing something wrong? Sorry for the video quality.

You are shifting at 3K.

He is shifting at 6K. This is not a proper comparison.

Your experience and mind are the same. I've just relaxed the pace at which I upshift, and learned to be patient to get the revs down.

I suspect that the causes may include the slightly heavier flywheel needed to smooth out the triple, and the subtleties of the engine management system.

When I am in competition I do of course dump the clutch on the 1-2 shift because I'd look pretty silly on an autocross waiting well over a second to grab the next gear, but on the street I don't rush it.

Cheers,

Charlie
