Factory JCW Leaked

228 hp, wider, bigger brakes and look at those seats!

Thoughts?

Damn. I was hoping that grille would be gloss black so I could replace the ugly chrome on my S.

when it says "more aggressive sport suspension standard" are they referring to the optional sport suspension on the S? or is it a completely different suspension?

also, is the body wider? or did they just run a lower offset wheel and the plastic flares stick out a bit to accomodate them?

I think it refers to the same sport suspension you can buy now. I don't think the car is wider, they base the JCW on the F56. The seats resemble the Recaros in my car (a $2900 option I might add, heated) with added coloring. I wonder if they're part of the package or extra? In the past the factory JCW included the body kit, Brembo brakes, turbo, wheel option for less money, anthracite headliner, steering wheel and shift boot trim and beefed up pistons and clutch for about $6,500 which brought the price to about $31K. Mine has the Recaros, HK, AT, BiXenon blackout lights, and some other stuff for about $40k. It's a pretty good deal for a BMW product.

I'm listening.

Not a fan of the wheels, and I'm questioning the body kit... but overall, I'm liking the mechanicals.

I would have thought they could have significantly more horsepower out of that engine, something in the range of 250-260 hp would have seemed easy.

I am in love with the seats. And I don't mind the design of the F56 body as much on the JCW. Maybe because I'm distracted looking at other things. I will say, I plan on keeping my '11 fJCW until it dies. Once it does, I'll probably consider the F56 JCW. We shall see!

But so far, I'm thinkin' I like it.

Remember that Mini's HP figures are lowball. the F56 rates 190 HP. Dyno results on a thread here say it gets about 210, the same as my JCW gets acc to Mini. So maybe mine really gets closer to 230, because I had an MCS for 7 years (180) and this thing is a different animal. The F56 JCW will be an even different animal I bet. Love the seats, hope they come standard but I bet they're extra.

The car looks hot. Naturally right after buying my R58 JCW haha.

I think I will wait for GP3 maybe? Or perhaps LCI F56 JCW.

True, BMW tends to under-rate their cars performance/specs. I know my 0-60 time has to be less than the advertised 6.8 seconds. C&D managed 6.1 on 18" all seasons. I'm sure my 17" summers can do better and I doubt they were using the launch control...

Not as jealous as I thought I'd be...still happy with my Cooper S.

Bet this breaks 40k with options easy...2 series money.

I'm getting those brakes though...

fJCW cars can get to 45k loaded up. The brakes are awesome, and I mostly cared about the motor. I think it looks great. I'm staying away from Mini North Scottsdale when they start coming in next year!

Looks cool, but this isn't really breaking news. I think the seats are the only thing that we didn't know about right?

We did not know the details of the engine-upgrade.

We did not know it would be 45kg heavier than the S.

I do not like the look of the seats judging of the pics. Feels like something from a french hot-hatch!

I am just wondering how long before we can get a look at the bigger turbo and the upgraded exhaust. Might be a very nice indication of what direction to take aftermarket work on S models to see how much gains there can be grabbed on this engine through aftermarket bolt-ons

Doesn't the JCW have the same engine as the BMW 225i Active Tourer? It's putting out 258 lb-ft of torque

BMW will never let a MINI match a Bimmer on paper. They want to keep people buying the bigger expensive cars.

Its a balance thing dudes. I am sure the car doesn't come with 305 series front tires so if you put that much torque in a mini with 205s or 225s you are spinning tires all day long which isn't that fun.

The mini is more about being nimble. It's a finesse car rather than brute force straight line speed.

It has the same engine as the F56, 2L four. It will be modded with a different turbocharger (like the F56) and maybe exhaust. They haven't said for sure yet.

The wheels and seats shown on the vehicle in the link are optional equipment.

The engine codes for the F56 MCS are B48B20M0 (manual) and B46B20M0 (auto).

The engine code for the F56 JCW and BMW 225i Active Tourer is B48B20O0, so it seems the torque has been "dialed back" for the JCW.

Rumor has it that the B48B20O0 engine will be used in a 2016 entry level 7-series and it will put out 260 bhp.
