How do you completely turn off without not locking doors?

I just picked up my F56 with auto yesterday and when I parked in my garage I put gear in P and then flick the ignition once to shut off engine.

Engine is off but I see that all the lights are mostly on until I actually lock the doors. I think I tried waiting 20 secs to see if it turns off, but it seemed to remain on. I don't lock the doors when I'm at home. Is the engine and acc off when I just park and without stepping brakes flick the ignition?

Last night I was applying paint sealer and when I wanted to sit in the car I unlocked first, then went in, but everything seemed to be on except the engine. Without pressing brakes, flicking the ignition once the fuel pump comes on and one more flick turns it back off, right? Or am I confused with my Mazda CX-5? Even when I thought everything was off, when I turn on radio, I can hear some mechanical device turning on. The ignition switch is really confusing me. I have no problem with my Mazda's start/stop button.

So, what is a proper way to turn off the car without locking the doors?

Push the start button once to stop the engine, push it again to turn everything off (foot off brake). You can still operate the windows until someone opens a door. That's how my R58 works and I bet yours is the same. What may be different is what happens when you have the headlights on and shut off the car. Mine go out right away, and come on again when I start the car (unless I turn the headlight switch off on the stalk). Some F56 people have said their headlights stay on. There has to be a setting for that because some people want them to light their pathway for a short time before turning off.

That bothered me a lot until I read an article in Automobile Magazine where they have recently added a Justa to their 4 seasons fleet and ran into that. They described the "fix", which I had never heard of. Anyway, if you don't hit the start switch a second time, I think the radio stays on for 8 minutes. Why 8 minutes? Who knows? Maybe that's long enough to finish listening to the last song as you roll into your driveway.

Thanks guys. Now, how do I completely turn it off if I didn't start the engine?

When I walk into my garage and press unlock, the car makes a noise, something like fuel pump getting ready or something. Let's say this is "getting ready" state. I don't want anything to turn on so if I go in the car and press the start switch once, it'll really turn on more stuff such as the speedo display. Let's say this is "ready" state. Press the start again, it'll go back to "getting ready" state.
As far as I can tell, when the doors are not locked, there's only two states: "getting ready" and "ready".

The state I want is "everything off" with doors unlocked, all this without starting the engine. Any ideas?

Pressing the ignition switch twice will turn everything off. As stated above you still have some power for windows and radio, that will time out too, how long I don't know. My car stays unlocked in my garage w/o anything being on.
