Perspective

The early Morris and Austin Mini's were quite basic. My Uncle had a Cooper with roof racks and a set of 3 official gauges that mounted under the parcel shelf. When people say Mini's roots this is what they are referring to.

I used to go surfing in Mexico in a Morris "woody wagon."
Had plenty of tools and Hail Mary's on board.

Nice clean Smith gauges. Still look nice. I miss the old habit of marking where each gear redlined.

Yes, very useful - but that was never done on British cars. It was only found on smaller Italian cars (without tachos) in my youth.

Is the clutch on the wrong side?

Or is that the gas pedal, missing a pedal?

Nope
That is correct.
Fuel pedal on right.
I drove a manual in the UK.
I am a Calif. boy.
What an exercise in concentration.
Roundabouts, WOW!
The shift pattern is the same.

Yes, correct right hand drive - same pedal arrangement as left hand drive.

Also the traditional indicators on the right on a British car. This was abandoned about 20 years ago to put the indicators on the left, standardising them for all European cars whether left or right hand drive.

For those with good eyesight, the indicator switch has a green transparent end housing the indicator warning lamp.
