Mine arrived yesterday, got them fitted today. With Load Warrior basket... looks kinda bad-*** if I may say so. Looking forward to loading it up with STUFF.
And happily, I think I can get it on or off by myself in 5 or 10 minutes. Still kicking myself for not waiting to order roof rails, but this isn't bad at all.
Red Bread- thanks for the idea on clear bra- just spent $10 on ebay for a 12x24" piece. Smart.

Update:
finally found the time to put all the pieces together. at the end, installed
Q-Towers with Q-128 Clips
48" Crossbars
Rocky Mounts Pitchfork bike mount
the last picture shows the distance between the end of the rocky mount pitchfork and the trunk when fully open. i remember reading somewhere that there was concern over the trunk hitting it. thankfully, it did not, by a lot. or maybe it's the bike that will hit the trunk? we'll see when i mount it...

They are noisy, but I don't care. Having the ability to bring my bike along is more than worth it.
I just ordered a Brass Knuckle rack from ECS Tuning. It will fit on my Yakima cross bar but does not require removal of the front wheel. It looks to be a more compact and better looking solution than Yakima's. I'll update when I get it.

I moved my racks a little forward of where Yakima tells you to put them so I could open the rear hatch without hitting. Otherwise it hits the rear tire.

Factory ones here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_9620
Think you would have to drill and then mounts those into the top ? I would pull the headliner and see if from the factory there are stamped locations that just need cut into . AKA R50 / R53 old set up factory .
Thanks

I ended up buying a used Yakima rack set in eBay for $200. Installed it this morning. The fit is extremely strong. I'm not worried about it damaging the car at all.
-4 Q Towers
-4 Q128 clips
-2 48" crossbars
Still need to find the 44" wind fairing at a decent price because of the wind noise.

I installed the Yakima bar with Q towers. They work and look great. As far as the noise, I bought 3/8 black bungee, 4 feet long, cut off the ends and made loops with black wire ties. I then installed the loops on the end of the bar, then spiral wrapped on the bars. Cut the noise down to almost nothing. I would probably go 5 foot, and get a few more twists in there. I am able to install my J kayak racks without removing the bungee.

Emailed Thule and this was their reply:
