Bluvw - Isn't the right front window open in your tint pics? It seems to make the front tint look lighter than the rear side tint. Or do the rear windows come pre-tinted from the factory? What I'd like to see is what the tint % looks like with both front windows closed - in other words, are all 4 windows then the same? (I don't care for the two-tint look).

All windows are up in the photos. From the factory, all the side windows come at 70% tint. I got 35% installed on top of that. Here are the rest of the shots for reference:

Bluvw - Doesn't it look to you that the front windows are less tinted than the rear side windows? What's going on here? (I realize I certainly could be mistaken, but I'd like to figure this out - I want all 4 windows to wind up looking equally tinted). Thanks.

Honestly, in person, the windows look equally tinted. Sorry if the photos are misleading. I double checked and all 4 side windows are listed as being 70% from the factory. I personally know the folks at the tint shop, so I have no reason to believe the tint is nothing but what I requested. I'll repost in a few days after the tint has had some time to cure.

Does anyone have opinions on Prestige Spectra PhotoSync Tint? How does that compare to 3M Crystalline?

I've read really good things about it. Big bucks from what I can see. There's a site in the SF Bay area I looked at a few weeks ago that does all these high end cars with it. Spend any time at that site or their FB page and you quickly realize that a lot of people in that area have too much money to spend

Rocketman- did you get yours done? I'd love to see pics- that's the exact combo I'm thinking to get, also on a pepper white.

MarcoPolo- how does the windshield look? Any weird colors at angles? Waviness? Refraction / graininess around oncoming headlights at night?

Thanks guys!

i absolutely love it. i think it really depends on the installer. the shop i went to (located in Bayside, NY) did a fabulous job with the front windshield. noone has been able to tell that i put tint on it. so to answer your question, no refraction or graniness from oncoming headlights. you may think to yourself "is it too dark at night" and the answer again is no. i did 80% so it's really almost like not having tint at all, but what it does do is block the UV rays and enough heat to make a huge difference inside the car.

for me, it wan't a cool factor of getting it done moreso than if i tinted the entire car but didn't touch the front windshield, it would have been a waste since the car would get hot again.

i do believe they also have a ceramic 90 so that's even LIGHTER than my 80.

would i do it again...in a heartbeat...especially if it was installed as good as it was. if you want more pictures, let me know and i'll take them.

Can someone please post photos of their tinted moonroof? I was thinking of doing it myself at maybe 15%.

Well I got my crystalline put in! Pics to come...

Got 50 on front sides, and 40 on the rear 3. Disappointing thing is that the rear 3 have this blue/purple reflective quality. Kinda like an iridescence. When you look through the glass, it's neutral, but reflections are blueish. I read about this before on a Tesla board, but I guess I forgot about it- should've had them test a small patch. Not sure if it's the 40 (because it reflects more light), or because the rear glass is different.

I believe that Llumar and other brands don't have this issue. So in hindsight- I'd probably go with something else. LA people- G5 has good prices on Llumar.

The crystalline does a pretty good job keeping heat out. As the specs say, it's cut down heat by about half.

Debating to get the windshield done too now...

Used 35% on the rears and 50% on the front doors on both our MINIs just enough to give them a custom appearance but not so dark to draw the attention of authorities.

I had Formula One (Luminar) Pinnacle 30 done on all side and back windows and Pinnacle 15 done on the sunroof. Looks nice, feels nice. If I did it again, I would probably go with Pinnacle 5 on the sunroof. Nothing wrong with the 15, I just think a little darker would not be bad. Sorry no pics.

If you get a chance, please post some pics. I'm very interested to see how the sunroof turned out.

Pics. You can see the blue / purple reflections in the rear quarter glass especially. Again, this is crystalline 50 on two sides and 40 on three rear panes.

J_L thanks for posting those pics. Our car is the same color and we plan to get the Crystalline. I think that reflection you might be seeing is the water/soap solution that is used during installation. It should cure away in a few days.

I went with Crystalline, too (40%), on the sides, rear and sunroof. I also had the installer to a 20% 3M Color Stable strip across the top of the windshield. That strip really helps big glare when driving into the sun. The curve of the windshield strip kind of adds a bit of character to the front end. iPhone 5S photos. Best I could do.

Macro, how did they deal with the stickers on your windshield? We plan to get Suntech 80% on the windshield but Crystalline 40% on the sides and back.

I don't have a picture of the sunroof yet. It's a rainy day here so will have to get one later. Here's what it looks like on the sides.

Cobra- are you seeing the blue reflections that I'm complaining about? Not really seeing it in your pics, though might be because your glass is reflecting dark trees and stuff.

Rocket- It's now been 10 days (very hot days at that), and the blue is still there. Sounds like some cars just have a reaction. I had read about it on a Tesla forum, but forgot to have them test it out for me... duh.

Did they use the same type of tint on all the windows? You got different levels of tint, but what I mean is, is it all dyed, metallic, or ceramic. Seems like I read that some types can have the blue/purple look. Therefore the question, did they use the same on all windows.

Edited my post to make it more clear- it is crystalline all around. Sides are 50, rear three panes are 40. Either the 40 is more visibly reflective (makes sense- it does reflect more heat), or the rear glass is somehow different and the 40 reacts to it.

Either way- I'm going with Llumar next time. Seems more neutral, blocks nearly as much heat, and is cheaper.
