F55/F56 Volkswagen Convert
Volkswagen Convert
Hi everyone! My name is Kim and I live in Las Vegas. I recently purchased my very first Mini Cooper S this past week. I have a 2014 Thunder Grey MCS, I purchased it off the lot from the Dealership, because unlike most of you, I don't have the patience to order one directly lol. However this MCS has everything I would have added to it anyhow, so it worked out for me. I traded in a 2013 VW Passat SE, and I have been a VW girl for the last 6 years or so. I always said my next car would be a BMW, and well I feel the Mini is the perfect vehicle for me. I just wanted to say hi, and not be such a lurker anymore lol. Here are some photos, in case you were wondering my License plates are Female Veteran plates, I was super happy when Nevada began to offer these, I get tired of people asking me if my husband was in the military. Now people know this is my car and I served lol. I also tinted the windows to 5% in the back and 35% in the front.
Nice to meet you! Love the car especially the interior........Another VW driver of 7 years here (GTI's x 2 and the wonderful Eos) so excited for my new Mini (on the slow boat).
I was also thinking that BMW would be a potential car of my future but was underwhelmed after a few test drives (refined but heavy cars - even the 135i didn't excite). Love the look of the new 4 series but when loaded up that is a pricey vehicle.
The 2014 Mini ticks all my boxes for fun. value and individuality!

Congratulations! Welcome to the MINI family and thanks for your service!
I have been back and forth between VWs (14), BMWs (3) and MINIs (2) and a Jeep Wrangler - all great vehicles that are fun to drive and own and seemingly part of a club or "family" of owners that stick together.
I noticed the title to your post was "Volkswagen Convert" and I misread that as "convertible" so I was curious to read if you went from a VW convertible (I have had three Beetle convertibles and an Eos) to a MINI. I wavered back and forth with my last purchase between a MINI Cooper S Convertible and the TDI Beetle Convertible. I ultimately chose the VW because of the amazing diesel engine available (averaging WAY above estimated figures on my commute - 46mpg) and the fact that it was $10K less. I know resale will not be as good as the MINI, but it sure is fun and frugal. I will be back to MINI once the new F57 is released next year.
There are many VW converts and subsequently on the VW forums, there are many MINI folks that have ditched their R53s and R56s for GTIs and TDIs. Both great vehicles and families to belong to!
