This seems overly complicated and expensive. Fold down the seats and throw your junk in the trunk lol.

Okay, I'm just about to pull the trigger on the final build for a 2015. my current build sheet includes the "storage package" for $250. My understanding is that it's basically a lid over the deeper recesses of the boot, and may or may not come a divider, depending on whether or not the make-ready guy separates it from the bubblewrap, or just thows it out. Right?

Also, can it carry a normal amount of groceries, packages, etc., without sagging, either now or in the future? In other words, is it even worth it?

Yes, it is that and more. Adding the storage pack also adds other parts all over the car (nets and shades) and adds the 12V outlet in the trunk. But the biggest part of it is the solid, two position lid and supporting hardware in the trunk.

If you have any interest in the flat loading floor surface we would strongly recommend you include the Storage Option in your build. If anyone in this thread is familiar with the Countryman Flat Load floor - you will understand this topic very well.

The rear side panels are different to accomodate for the hinges and latches. If you tried to retrofit this after the fact you will most likely spend more than the $250. Some of the pieces are not currently available from MINI. Here is a diagram for reference:

http://mini.sewellparts.com/oem-cata...F56S-2014.html

The storage tray and dividers that everyone talks about are located here and are seperate from the Storage Package on your build sheet. It is a hard plastic "liner" that drops down inside your storage area:

Thanks!

New member here. Just picked up an F56 yesterday, with most of all the fixin's except for the storage pack, unfortunately.

I love my car, but I'd like the utility of the floor above the trunk compartment, and a MINI part is ideal (since I'm not really a DIYer).

I'm really interested in the part from Sewell #51477298611; I don't really need the functionality of the hinge / tilting, but the floor which fits perfectly fits the bill.

Papawhiskey, do you have any updates for us?

Thanks!

Funny you should ask. I just got the part Thursday PM from my dealer. It is just what I wanted and what I think you're looking for. It fits the boot floor with a small gap that the hinges for the factory install would use for it to pivot. It's strong and rigid and nicely carpeted with some attachment slots on the bottom probably for a netting . I think with a bit of creative work I can get it to latch in a pivoted up position against the rear seat too.

I like the well in the boot, but this will add a bunch of utility that the well alone can't provide. If you haven't ordered your car yet, I would recommend this to people. I didn't think it was worth what Mini was asking for it, on the configurator, but I've reversed that opinion and would add it if I had to order again.

I ordered that part about the same time as Papawhiskey, received it yesterday. Works great for what I needed. Now my trunk is flat, sure it doesn't hinge, but flat is all I needed.

Thanks papa whiskey & cansa!!

This is exactly what I need then. Thanks for the pictures as well, cansa, I was thinking about adding the mat as well. I'm so happy it works and looks as good as it does. Very functional, even without the hinges.

Edit: Just placed my order for the floor / luggage compartment / boot mat. I can't wait to receive and install them. They'll bring so much more utility to that area of the car. Thanks all!

That was my plan also but was thinking of maybe red carpet to match the exterior and make it pop a bit

Is that a ham in the well, to the left of the white jug?

The ham........I was wondering where I left that! Just kidding, at least I hope. My well has all my necessities, windshield washer fluid, extra quart of oil, snow brush (this is Canada, never know when you'll need one), california duster, compact compressor, mini car vac and a couple of other items. But hopefully no ham.

Your car's going to California on the way to Colorado? Seems like a roundabout way to get to you!

I just got mine today! Ah, a flat trunk floor. So useable. I also have the luggage compartment tray underneath as well. I think everyone should consider this investment (for those that don't have the storage package).

Just curious, why is everyone so concerned about making storage area flat?

I had a 2010 Miata and the trayed trunk was one of my favorite features in that car. It held my groceries and smaller objects tightly in place. On the contrary, any flat-floored trunks in other cars always have the bags flying and spilling stuff all over the place. What kind of stuff do you plan on hauling that requires a flat (covered) floor?

Those with OCD (CDO for those with OCD) want a flat trunk floor

I think I buy more groceries than you! I shop once a week and usually have 6 or 7 bags. Before the trunk was flat I could only get 3 maybe 4 in the "well" of the trunk and then I'd spill over onto the passenger seat, now it's flat I can use the whole width and all the bags fit in the trunk. Perfect for me! I had also bought the cargo liner with the car not knowing the trunk wouldn't be flat so it was useless until I got the flat top.
Sal1k, glad you're happy with your purchase.

Storage pan without dividers holds: Slime kit with first aid kit, full size California Duster, microfiber Windshield Wonder cleaning tool, 2 small folding stools, aerosol glass spray, quart of oil, quart of windshield washing fluid, lug nut tool, locking lug nut, LED/magnetic Gorilla light, wrench/plier tool, screwdriver tool, battery operated/magnetic emergency flashing triangles, Zippee Shades, microfiber towels, microfiber sponge, paper towels, ice scraper, and gloves. When I lift the rigid platform, it wants to drop to the lower level, so I just give a little tug to keep it on the upper level as I pivot it back into place.
I would love a one-piece (but split at the seat separation) seat-back protector AND cargo floor protector, made to bend where the seat bottoms and cargo floor meet, like my Hyundai Veloster had. I wonder if anyone will make such a thing? Great for if you have dogs!

Its about options! Its not like you lose the well in the boot.

So far in less than a month, moved an in-window AC unit in my car and a large dog crate. If the floor weren't flat they'd have tumbled back pretty awkwardly!

Plus the flat storage area does a bit more than just make it flat, you still have the well, but with a cover on it. When grocery shopping I put my bread and other small items I don't want crushed into the well, close the compartment on them, then put all the other heavy stuff on top of that.

When traveling for work we have corporate policies about not storing your work laptop in a visible place when in a car. So that also drops into the well and the cover goes down, what a good corporate drone I am.

In addition to the above responses, the flat load floor makes it easier to haul luggage (suitcases) without it falling into the well. Also, the trunk isn't exactly huge and I like to keep tools, jumper cables, a quart of oil, sunshade, small snow shovel, snow brush, etc. out of the way. The little compartment under the well mat isn't big enough for some of those things.

I've got jumper cables, a quart of oil, a 12V powered tire pump and other sundry just-in-case items in the well under the flat floor. Additionally, for me, the flat floor makes my hockey bag fit a helluva lot better.
