Hey did you ever resolve your drive train problem? I just got mine on start up today. Couldn’t really accelerate beyond 2k RPM. Going to drop it off at the dealer tomorrow morning.

Hope this wouldn’t be a big problem... will keep you updated.

i just got this message today too on my 2019 JCW, driving 60mph, on way to work, and all of a sudden stuttering and no power or acceleration when stepping on the gas pedal...and then the drivetrain malfunction light came on., pulled to the side and shifted to park and the engine stopped by itself. tried restarting o see if it would clear and it starts stumbles and stops again. waited 5 more minutes and started again and i limped it all the way home to swap to my other car to go to work.....

Unhelpful error message
Hiya,

This error mesage unfortunately is incredibly unhelpful! It covers everything from low oil, engine hot due sitting in traffic, hitting a pot hole to complete engine failure!
MINI mechanics can be pretty useless with this fault so I have asked an aircraft engineer to take a look for me as the onboard computers in planes is almost the same as cars! My engineer reports the above, most unhelpful message possible! After a little digging, for my fault personally it is the EGR (I know, sad times!) After putting a fuel injector in to clean the filters and valves which seems to have helped a little but after sitting in traffic for a long time today, it came back on! Plugged in a Snap-On Ultra to the OBD diagnostic slot (which is all MINI can do at this early stage!), no fault code was find nor any pending codes!
doesn't help much, i appreciate but hope the explanation of it literally being anything will help people try and diagnose in a cheaper way than going to MINI! Also another thing to watch, MINI will argue the toss over your warranty cover for this diagnostic work....it is 100% covered by the programme you purchased on car roll out, don't be bullied!!!!
Happy driving all and wish me luck that it's not an EGR replacement!! Pricey pricey 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣
