And of course the warning on the label can't mean me, must be those other guys.
Having seen the horrible things that happen to N14 engines when following the BMW engineers' recommended 15,000mi oil change intervals, I'm not inclined to think that BMW has a g****** clue about oil in small, high powered engines.

(And don't even get me started about the geniuses over in BMWmotorrad who designed the servo brakes on their early 2000's motorbikes. You know, the ones that when the engine loses power they have the stopping power of wet toilet paper. Zero improvement over standard hydraulic brakes, more complexity, high failure rate and a hideously dangerous failure mode.)

Assuming may be flawed, but that goes both ways. I don't assume that BMW engineers know oil. Or brakes.

Suspension and steering though… the evidence is overwhelmingly pro-BMW. :-)

It's quite amazing how feelings on this topic vary. It's also amazing that there are so many responses using exclamation points at that. We're all Mini fans here, no need to get so excited.

The beautiful thing about the varied (and highly contested) break in methodologies is that we all get to decide for ourselves how we choose to do this. Everyone should simply do what they feel most comfortable with.

Personally I still don't think I would ever want a demo car that was test driven by numerous strangers. Might as well buy a used vehicle in my opinion.

A "demo" with 10, 1200, or any mileage for that matter, has always been a used car IMHO.
