F55/F56 over-the-top "add ons" by dealer???
just inked a deal on a Countryman S with 8500 miles and a $31xxx sticker...was a loaner car the dealer swears they 'own the car'(remember it's a loaner so they 'own it' since new) for $25k - we are getting it for a good deal less that that. If that's true, they've got a lot more room on these vehicles than man are saying.
Dealers write down service loaners each month on their books as an expense to the service department, the amount that they "own it" for on their books at the 8500 mile mark is well under what the invoice was on the car. Service loaners are usually GREAT deals...
While they have owned it since new, it is still a used vehicle at that point.

But still the impression i get is that they owned it for $25k when new when msrp was $31xxx. My point was if they bought it new for $25k and ask $31k they have significantly more room than the $2k max discount a lot of commenters are swearing is the largest discount possible - whether you can get that much off or not is another story.
Besides the window etching, you are getting an insurance policy that pays you some amount if the car is stolen within so many years and not recovered. Or some amount if recovered and damaged. The etching helps id the parts. Really this is almost pure profit for the dealer. I talked one down one time from $300 to $150. Another time I told them there was no way I was paying for it.
Definitely check with your local police before paying for VIN etching. Many local police do it for free, they do here in Austin.
The local dealer does add a paint protection thing they say which I'd like to avoid but like "documentation fees " they seek pure profit where they can. You've already ordered, you want the car, reordering from another dealer will take weeks, you likely didn't order something the can't sell off the lot, so they know you're in a vulnerable position.

If you feel the need, buy a $12 kit on Amazon, eBay, or your FLAPS and do it yourself.

If they deliver a car and try to add on things that you didn't agree to, you can say no. And if they want to claim your deposit (assuming you made one), you can get that back to — they violated contract, not you, by adding on things you did not ask for.
Seriously. If you are the buyer, you have all the power, and only you can give it up to the dealer.
That said… dealers have a lot of practice at manipulating buyers; the finance guys do it dozens of times a week. They're good at their jobs (or they don't keep their jobs). Most buyers don't get much practice; maybe twice a decade for most of us.
I don't mind giving dealers profit, they need it to survive. But there's only so much I want to give, and I require value to be delivered in exchange for that profit. A $2200 quart of oil, for example, is not my idea of a fair value exchange.
