VDC / DDC Shock & Strut Lifespan and Koni FSD Any Good?

2016 F55 S w/ electronic dampers
~88k mi

Hi all, I have only owned this mini for 6k miles or so. In that time I’ve been doing all of the fluids, brakes, motor mounts etc. It’s equipped with the electronic dampers and I’m curious what the life expectancy of the electronic shocks and struts is? They’re nearly 10 years old with close to 90k miles, so I’m sure there’s not much life left.

The ride is pretty rough, but that’s kinda what I expected in a mini. It’s on new Conti Extreme 215/40r18s. The damper selection does work as expected. Sport is really rough.

I took a peek and found the rear shocks seem to be leaking. The front shocks/struts don’t have any visible leaks. I’ve looked into replacements, OE is priced in another world. The Bilstein B4 damptronics are a bit more reasonable, but hard to source.

I think I’m going to go with Koni Special Actives. The Koni SAs with 4 new mounts is still cheaper than the damptronics. Does anyone have experience with these shocks on an F55? Thanks in advance.
