My wife recently bought a 2007 Mini Cooper S. It's in great shape with only 48,000 miles but it had a rough idle issue that I fixed by replacing the vanos valve on Friday night. Everything was working fine until we were out for a drive yesterday and she decided that cruising down the highway with the cruise set on 63 would be a good time to start seeing what some of the buttons do. Well, she hit one of the shifter paddles on the steering wheel and dropped it down into 3rd gear...obviously not a good idea. I reached over from the passenger seat and shifted it back up to drive and had her pull over in a farmers driveway about a block away. We put it in park, shut it off, turned it on, looked under the hood and underneath....everything appeared to be fine.

We got back on the road and my wife tried to turn the cruise control back on... now the cruise control won't stay on and when we push hard on the gas pedal we get a yellow light on the tach that looks like the cruise control light with an exclamation point beside it. The car won't accelerate like it should but it will eventually get up to speed. After a Google search it appears that this is a speed limiter light? How do I get this to go off and get the car to accelerate like it should? Is it something to do with her inadvertent downshifting or did she push something wrong when she tried to turn the cruise control back on?
