F54 PSA: Check for mice!
PSA: Check for mice!
I was topping up my windshield washer fluid and noticed some, ahem, droppings, on my oil cap. So pulled the engine cover off and had a bunch of acorns/nut shells/more droppings under the cover. Most importantly: the wires to the fuel injectors were slightly chewed. Just one of the ground (brown) wires leading to one of the injectors was a little bit exposed, but the rest had little nicks in the tape wrapped around the wire looms. So i ordered some automative heat/wire wrap (Tesa brand high heat wire wrap tape) and wrapped all the looms a bit.
I then had to go googling and apparently this is a 'thing' that happens sometimes. So...check out your wires! I think mice really like hanging out under the engine cover over the winter, since the foam provides some insulation, the engine block provides some heat. Might redo it with the Honda-branded chili-pepper-anti-mouse wrap.
Guess I'll have to start checking out air filters next to be sure they haven't done anything awful ;-).

Put one of these in your garage and worries are over.
