Protuning module?

I came across a module by protuningusa, that’s supposed to be plug-n-play like the NM and the dinan sport. According to the website description, it will work on both 2.0 and 1.5L engines. And it’s about half price of dinan sport unit. Has anyone heard of this unit? Is it legit?

Is it this one? https://protuningusa.com/product/pro...rogrammer-kit/

It seems a bit different in that it says it just plugs into the OBD. And they don't disclose info on potential gains. Without any additional info, and the fact that it only plugs into the obd, it just seems a little suspect. In that price range, you may also want to consider the burger tuning or the racechip.

Ah okay, well yeah, this one plugs in to at least control the boost pressure. I suspect you'll feel a little bit. And for the price, seems like it's worth the risk to find out!

It’s cheap but,

It is cheaper than other modules on the market, but I wonder about it causing a CEL or limp mode issue. Dinan and NM and burger seem to be all sorted out already from what other members have reported. Guess it’s back to putting spare change in my wish jar!!

Yeah, you should see what their warranty includes and what their return policy looks like.

I actually ended up going with a Racechip GTS for my '21 JCW all4, even though it only produces like 20 some HP at the wheels. They're currently $100 off and I also got an additional $50 off. Waiting to get through my break in period before installing it. Here's a good video (if you skip past the first 40 sec's) if you're interested:

I was under the impression the transmission was near limits with stock HP/Torque. At what point do these increases become a problem?

I think that's correct. And I think that's why they were only able to get 20ish HP out of it. I'm also considering a catless downpipe too, but not sure I'll go there just yet, we'll see. For now, I plan to get a dragy and compare before/after times with the Racechip. If it doesn't show a decent improvement on times, then I'll probably just return it. I know that's not as accurate as a dyno, but will be good enough for me to decide. Will post results up here on the boards for folks.
