My 2017 oh man has the “ring” around the gear selector to switch between eco/mid/sport. While it’s interesting, it’s not very handy. Is it possible to swap it to a toggle switch like in the latter year models? I had a 2018/2019 loaner and the switch was great and handy. It doesn’t even have to be a OEM switch. A nice aluminum one would be nice too! Anyone have any knowledge in this area? Thank you.

 

Head scratcher for me. I've had MINIs with the switch selector and hated it. The ring is perfect for me.

Now on to your problem. I think it is just a switch in a ring set up. Probably not a tough job but you would need to take the ring off and have a look at the current switch. It's can probably be switched with a momentary contact switch. maybe this ? or similar - although not sure without taking it apart and looking at the current switch.
